Näyttää kirjoituksista päätellen olla hankala dxcc-maa tämä jenkkilässä, koska kelinavaus ohjeita tarjotaan yksityiskohtaisesti. Ja me muut saamme lukea rivien välistä vain , olkaa EU silloin kutsumatta.
Taitaa olla liikaa pyydetty, joilta EUsta tuo maa puuttuu. Taitaa tuo Navassa K1N vähän helpottaa tilanetta, ei sitä joka pileuppiin ehdi, ainakaan samaan aikaan.

Iota saarena tämä AS-166 ollut edellinen ensimmäinen aktiviteetti 2002 syksyllä äänessä EP6KI toimesta, joten painetta tälläkin IOTA suunnalla on tarjolla.

The help of Dr Fard was very much appreciated again and we were very happy to be welcomed by so many people of the local amateur radio society in the middle of the night. The 50 km trip between airports which was arranged by Mohammed (EP3MIR) and his assistant Ali went perfectly. All official departments on Kish island have been notified about our radio expedition. There should be no restrictions. In a few hours after arrival on the island we will start building the antennas, and setting up the stations. Tuli pitkin päivää 6.1.2015  taajuudella 7180 luettavasti JA / VK ja NA suunnat oli vain vahvoilla. Englantilaiset asemat vain vähän sotkivat kuuntelua, pitämällä paikallis rinkulaa samalla taajuudella, onneksi skippi ja 3 elm suuntakuvio ei pohjoiseen biimatessa suosi G suuntaa. EU vastaanotton pätkä meni siltä päivältä ohi, en ollut edes rigien äärellä.

Taas uusi päivä 7.1.2015 ja aamulla kuuntelulla 06.00 ensin  sh/tx5w haku OH2J telnet clusterilta . Siellähän TX5W pihisi, kaikki kuitenkin luki  7157 ja otti 5 upia, sinne kutsumaan onnekseni EU kelpasi. Tapani OH5BM meni ensin läpi, hän pyysi että scandeja erikseen kuunneltaisi. Niin tapahtui saimme 4 minuutin erikoiskuuntelun ja siinä pätkässä minäkin sain kutsuni läpi, ainakin Timo OH1NX teki saman tempun. Scandinavia näytti vähän laajentuneen, muita EU asemia siinä taisi mennä myös läpi. Uusi bandi mode bongo siinä kirjattiin.

Vanhoja QSL korttia myydään keräilijöille Huutonetissä

Minunkin vanhoja qsl-korttia, kahta eri kortti tyyppiä myydään korttien keräilijöille. Minun korteista, toinen on aivan blanco, siis kirjoittamaton. Toinen on kaksipuolinen, josta en voi sanoa onko tämäkin blanco. Useat kortit on lähettyjä vasta-asemille, joten osa on ainakin yhden kuolinpesän jäännöksiä. Näyttää että tällä myyjällä OH kortteja paljonkin tarjolla, eripuolilta maata. Osa OH kutsujen omistajista jo siirtynyt SK osastolle. Pitäisköhän ostaa tuo toinen kaksipuolinen oma kortti, niin näkisi onko sekin blanco.

AATON MUKANA MAAILMALLA, OSA 35 VIETNAM (XV)



Maisema Halonginlahdella on upea.

 



Kolmaskerta toden sanoo eli vierailtuani jälleen (marraskuu-14) Vietnamissa, tunnistin maasta saamani positiiviset vaikutteet uudelleen.

 

Maanalaiset tunnelit

 

Kävin Vietnamissa vuosina 2004 ja 2009, jolloin tutustuin  Saigoniin ja sen lähistöllä sijaitseviin Cu Chinin- maanalaisiin tunneleihin. Nämä ovat useammassa kerroksessa ja näissä oli myös huoneita eri tarkoituksiin, kuten esim. sairaala. Näillä käytävillä jouduin kävelemään kumarassa ja hyvin pian aloin tuntea voimakasta ahtaanpaikan kammoa. Nykyisin turistirysänä olevat tunnelit rakennettiin Vietnamin sodan sisseille, jotka taistelivat suunnatonta ylivoimaa vastaan. Yhdysvallat lähetti sotaan puolimiljoonaa sotilasta. Sodassa kuoli kaikkiaan neljä miljoonaa ihmistä. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%e1%bb%a7_Chi_tunnels).

 

Miellyttävämmät muistot minulle jäi Nha Trangin rantakaupungista, jossa vertaansa vailla oleva kilometrien pituinen hienohiekkainen ranta hemmotteli  minut Vietnamin faniksi. Tottahan toki löytyy Vietnamin 33oo km pitkältä rannikolta muitakin vastaavia rantoja, kuten Aurinkomatkojen Phu Quoc. Phan Thiet. Hoi An ja Danang. Vihjeenä ensikertaa näille rannoille aikoville tiedoksi, että lämpötila tammikuussa vaihtelee näiden kohteiden välillä peräti kahdeksan astetta (21-29 C).

 

Huikea Halonginlahti

 

Viimeeksi tehdyllä Vietnamin matkalla oli kohteina maan pohjoisosassa sijatisevat pääkaupunki Hanoi sekä Halonginlahti, joka on yksi maailman seitsemästä ihmeestä ja samalla myös UNESCON maailmanperintökohde. Risteilyjen lähtösatamassa oli laituri toisensa jälkeen täynnä erikokoisia laivoja ja veneitä odottamassa innokkaita turisteja (vuositasolla jopa kolme miljoonaa), jotka olivat varanneet muutaman tunnin tai useampaan vuorokauteen kestävän risteilyn. Matkailijoiden määrässä tapahtui vuonna 1997 suuri ponnahdus ylöspäin kun James Bondin "Huominen ei koskaan kuole"- esitettiin elokuvateattereissa.

Kahden vuorokauden aikana saimme ihastella uskomattoman kauniita maisemia, jossa pääosassa olivat puiden peittämät kalkki- ja dolomiittikukkulat, joita sadevesi on vuosisatojen kuluessa muotoillut erinäköisiksi kallioiksi (kallioperästä liukenee aineita).

 

Helmien viljelyä

 

Tutustuimme ponttoonien päällä oleviin kelluviin kyliin, jotka olivat kaukana turvallisesta kotipiiristä, sillä laiturintapaista rakennelmaa ei ole suojattu kaiteilla. Näissä olosuhteissa oli erilaisia toimintoja, kuten myymälä, jossa valmistettiin ja että myytiin helmikoruja. Saimme havainnollisesti nähdä helmien syntyvaiheen. Ammattinsa osaava nuori nainen raotti simpukan kuorta ja asetti tiettyyn paikkaan vieraan esineen, esim.kuorensirun. Meressä simpukka erittää sirun ympärille sarveisainetta ja kalsiumkarbonaattia, josta muodostuu halutun kokoinen helmi 1-3 vuoden kuluessa.

 

Hedelmällisyyden symboli

 

Parintuhannen erimuotoisen saaren joukossa on useita tippukiviluolia, joissa värivaloilla on saatu hyvin esiin luonnon muodostamia hahmoja. Tungoksesta päätellen yksi kuuluisimmista luolista on Cave of Awe, jonne meidät kuljetettiin yhteysveneellä. Ennen kierroksen alkua meidän annettiin ymmärtää, ettei kääntyminen polulta takaisin ole mahdollista. Aikoinaan jo ranskalaiset kutsuivat tätä nähtävyyttä yllätyksen luolaksi. Niin se oli nytkin, sillä edessä olevasta pysähdys-

paikasta alkoi kuulua naisten hihittelyä. Syy selvisi ilman tarkempaa tutkistelua, sillä seinämässä sojotti vaalenpunainen hedelmällisyyden symboliksi nimetty miehinen hahmo.

 

Mopojen Hanoi

 

Vietnamin pääkaupungissa sanotaan olevan lähes seitsemän miljoonaa asukasta ja viisimiljoonaa mopoa. Tähän saimme tuntuman istumalla cyclossa eli kolmipyöräisessä riksassa. Tunnin kestänyt kierros pahimpaan ruuhka-aikaan värikkäillä ja ahtailla kujilla antoi ymmärtää, että kyllä sopu tilaa antaa. Kuulin kerrottavan, että cycloista oltaisiin luopumassa liikaa tilaa vievänä kulkuvälineenä ja suositeltavampi menopeli olisi moottoripyörätaksi.

Palatsialueella

 

Yksi "pakollisista" käyntikohteista Hanoissa on edesmenneen presidentin Ho Chi Minh- palatsialue, jonka sisääntuloportilla oli pitkä jono odottamassa pääsyä kassien läpivalaisuun. Presidentti ei asunut alueella olevassa entisessä kuvernöörin palatsissa, vaan hän asui ja työskenteli hyvin vaatimattomassa erillisessä talossa. Hänellä oli käytössään kolme virka-autoa joista yksi oli minullekkin tuttu merkki, Popeda, sillä meilläkin oli sellainen kotona (taksi).

Karmea vankila

 

Vierailu Hoa Lo- vankilamuseossa jätti epämielyttävän tunteen, sillä esineet ja kuvat kertoivat liiankin hyvin olosuhteista, joissa pääasiassa poliittiset vangit joutuivat virumaan. He olivat kiinni jalkapuissa, ja kettingeissä. Myös viime sodan amerikkalaiset sotilaat (lentäjät) kiinni jäätyään joutuivat tänne "hotelli Hilttoniksi" kutsuttuun vankilaan.

 

Hanoista vettä

 

Asioidessa katukojujen kauppiaiden kanssa, on eduksi jos osaat kertoa vietnamin kielellä olevasi Phan Lan-maasta (Suomi). He nimittäin arvostavat suomalaisia, sillä maamme on hyvin tunnettu kehitysavun antajana jo yli 30 vuoden ajalta. Kehitysapurahoilla on rahoitettu myös Hanoin vesijohtojärjestelmää.

 

Kunnon maistajaiset

 

Hanoin kansainvälisellä lentokentällä oli taxfree myymälässä juomien esittelyä ilman henkilöä joka sitä tarjoilisi, joten siellä oli take yourself eli itsepalvelu. Esillä oli skottilaista 18 vuotta vanhaa elämän vedeksi kutsuttua juomaa sekä erään ranskalaisen kylän nimen saanutta viinirypälevalmistetta. Sanomattakin on selvää, että maistelimme niitä tietyllä arvokkuudella ja ennenkaikkea omatuntomme mukaan.

 

Ajankohtaista

 

Moni tämän juttusarjan lukijoista on saattanut ihmetellä kuvien puuttu-

mista vanhemmista jutuista. Syy on nyt todennäköisesti löydetty ja uusien kuvien laittaminen tilalle on aloitettu (esim. Etelämanner).

It is getting close to 'decision time' whether or not the Bouvet project will go forward. I am amazed by the amount of funding intentions received from individual DXers and DX Foundations/Clubs alike.
As stated from the beginning, I will be very transparent about every aspect of this project, finances not being the least.
At this point in time, 112k euro out of the needed 250k euro are on the budget spreadsheet, this is exciting news!
The funding intentions from individual DXers range from 10,- USD to a staggering 100,000 USD (8,- EUR to 82,000 EUR).
Yes, there is an angel contributor willing to donate this much of money to see this project succeed!

I am expecting the input of some of the DX Foundations, DX Clubs and other Amateur Radio related Institutions to reach me in the next few weeks. As such, I am postponing the deadline for a possible go ahead until the end of January 2015.

Some of you have raised a point of concern about two teams possibly activating Bouvet around the same time period. I have done my homework on this, and with all data at hand I see no reason to adjust my initial concept. In regard to possible funding for the two efforts, luckily for you, the deserving DXer and the DX Foundations/Clubs there are mechanisms in place to determine the viability and success factors of both efforts.

The unique one-man effort over a 3 month time period, will undoubtedly show how this different approach will make more people happy (compared to a multi-operator team, short time period).
Have a closer look why.

It is in the scope of this project:

1. to work as many unique stations as possible;
Thanks to the 3 month time period, I will be able to work 1 or 2 specific bands exactly for this purpose. The very last interested QRPp station willing to work Bouvet and willing to put the necessary time and effort from his/her side into it, will be able to get in the log;

2.  to work those stations that need Bouvet on certain bandslots/modes to achieve 9 band clean sweeps;

3. to provide SSB, CW and RTTY contacts for those needing certain modes.

For all audiences, I will have plenty of time. It will be the primary reason for me being on Bouvet, making radio contacts, as many as possible.
Whether or not there will be two DXpeditions activating Bouvet, all the target audiences (unique/9 band-ers/modes) will ultimately have a better shot with the 3 month concept.

For this approach to be successful, it needs one or two things.
- Club Log is a great asset to Amateur Radio. However, the 'Leaderboard' function will not be used;
- I will ask to those who already have Bouvet confirmed on certain bands/modes: only work Bouvet where you need it.

I am confident I can count on the fair play from the deserving DXers to just work Bouvet where they need it. Resulting in being able to work the pileups down to the very last QRPp or mobile station and at the same time making the 9 band hams reach their objective.

For those of you who would like to, and are able to contribute to the project upfront, pse send an e-mail to "bouvet2016 'at' telenet.be" with the amount you intend to donate.
Again, I do not want/need any money now, there is no PayPal account, it is just your funding intention I need to know at this point in time.
The final total on my spreadsheet will tell me whether to go ahead or not. A final thought: 112k out of 250k is not enough to go ahead.

The team at OF9X is pushing hard in their year-end Christmas activity, and will hopefully pass the 20,000 QSO mark soon. A large number of children seized the opportunity to say hello to Santa on Amateur Radio which brought cheer to their Christmas and made Grandpa a proud facilitator. The activity will continue until the end of 2014 and you still have another opportunity to catch the 2014 Santa spirit.

Santa himself at OH9SCL has returned from his world tour and tonight he will hit the bands to run in parallel with OF9X for the closing days of 2014. You need to work both stations - OH9SCL and OF9X - to qualify for a “2014 Santa Claus World Vision Certificate”. Once you have done that, please notify the Santa Desk at <of9x@sral.fi>

The underlying objective of the OF9X project is to raise money for Albanian children in need through World Vision. The project has been a great success and its aim is to establish a dedicated school with the help of DXers supporting this worthy cause. You can still join the project:

Navassa Press Release

30 December 2014
It is now about 4 weeks before K1N goes on the air.  The exact date of departure from the staging area will be dependent upon a combination of the date U.S. FWS transportation is available and upon weather windows.  It is looking like K1N will be QRV the first two weeks of February.

Most of the team have their bags packed and are ready to go.  Because of the helicopter logistics, this will be a no-frills-minimum-comfort operation for the team.  Meals will be MRE’s.  The container has been organized for a quick camp setup and quick radio/antenna setup to take advantage of every moment.  It is estimated there will be two full days of helicopter shuttles to get everything needed to start operations.    A small team of FWS personnel will accompany us, including armed Federal Law Enforcement Officers.

Efficiency is not just for the team, but also for the DX community.  It has been over 22 years since Navassa was activated and USFWS will not allow another operation for at least 10 more years.  This is a ONCE IN 32 YEARS opportunity to work Navassa!  Everyone can make the most of this opportunity by LISTENING to the operator’s instructions and following the cadence of the operator.  We will not be working all modes on all bands, but limiting most bands to a specific mode, so that we can work the pileups down to the last little pistol.

5 High power stations, more than 6km of radials, new RX systems, filters, combiners, verticals, phased arrays, a 4 SQ and 5 beams should make it possible to get YOU in our log!

Out of almost 4.800 voters who filled out our poll, it’s obvious that “the Low bands” will become the challenge of this expedition. Our Low band (160/80/40) operators will be QRV from local sunset (13.45Z) up until our sunrise (03.00Z) and will hopefully be able to pull out the weaker W6 /W7 signals that will reach us on 160 meters via the long path.(27.000KM!) During the first two days of the expedition, we encourage DX stations from all corners of the world to listen to us on the Low bands and to keep our pilots informed of your best times so we can focus based on the data we receive. During these days we will also be doing our utmost to thin out the EU pile.

Propagation predictions show that almost all continents are within decent signal range, with North America the only exception. The EP to NA path is extremely difficult and of short duration. To give everyone a fair chance and to obtain a leveled continental balance, we will have to use all openings to NA to the fullest! The 10 meter antenna has been replaced by a 5 element OWA Yagi. By doing so, our signal will be significantly stronger, but we also hope to be able to log West Coast stations via LP.

We have put countless hours and tremendous efforts in trying to meet everyone’s needs and hopes for your cooperation; because besides predictions, the most important message “is the operators instructions”

During our stay it is likely that next to the experts from the C.R.A, some local radio amateurs will come and visit us. Together, we will share all our experiences and help them discover the fun of pile-ups. Please be patient and help them to discover this wonderful hobby.

SV2ASP/A oli aktiivinen viikonlopulla

Sunnuntaina 28.12.2014 SV2ASP/A Oli myös 12m ssb illansuussa paikallisen auringon laskun jälkeen, signaali oli täällä hyvin vaatimaton. Ei mitään mahdollisuuksia minulla ainakaan päästä läpi, illan kuluessa kuului muutamia muitakin OH asemia siinä kutsuvan, menestyksestä en tiedä, ainakaan silloin kun kuuntelin ei kukaan kutsuvista OHista mennyt läpi. Upissa kutsuvat muut etelän EU asemat tuli tänne aivan eriluokaa kuin ASP/A, ehkä heillä oli linukat tulilla.

Lauantaina 27.12.2014 SV2ASP/A oli  12m RTTY tarjolla, ajankohdasta johtuen ei silloinkaan signaali ollut kummoinen. Vihjeiden historiaa tutkimalla voi päätellä että SV2ASP/A on yleensä äänessä viikonloppuisin, meidän auringonlaskun jälkeen, valitettavasti keli tänne on jo pahasti hiipumassa.
